In the immediate environment: beautiful walks

Go out and discover the village of Audrehem, the green meadows and the surrounding countryside.
Our favourite: The hamlet of Audenfort, half an hour’s walk away.

5 minutes’ drive: Licques
All sorts of shops and services, chemist’s, doctors...

Licques is a rural village of 1,500 well-known for its poultry farming.

It is the capital of turkey breeding in France and the main centre for Label Rouge traditional free range poultry.  A turkey festival takes place every year over a weekend at the beginning of December.  This large traditional gathering includes a street procession of turkeys, tasting sessions, sale of local products and meals hosted in marquee tents.

For the walking enthusiasts there are miles of footpaths to explore in Licques and the surrounding countryside.
At the bottom of the valley, these paths follow little streams, and walking along the surrounding hilltops will reveal the valley in all its splendour.

25 minutes’ drive away: Audomarois

St Omer, a town of art and history, lives in the shadow of its Gothic cathedral, the centrepiece of its rich architectural heritage.

Guaranteed change of scene: the Audomarois swamps.

Just next to Saint Omer, the swamp houses open onto the enchanting water gangs and swamps, the heron’s exclusive territory.

35 minutes’ drive: Boulogne-sur-Mer
Leading fishing port in France, yacht harbour and cross-channel ferry port

Boulogne-sur-Mer, a town of art and history, invites the visitor to experience its rich historical heritage.

The basilica and the Château Musée.
It was in the 18th century that the present fortified castle and ramparts were erected.  Visit the Notre-Dame basilica dedicated to the blessed Virgin in the boat - its Romanesque crypt dating from the 6th century is one of the largest in France, at 128 m (140 ft) long.
